English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Learners often come to us with a high level of education in their native country and limited English language skills.

Some are immigrants and refugees. Others are here as visitors, often while a spouse is on a temporary assignment or attending or teaching at a university. They need help with spoken English, reading and writing, and often with navigating our culture. A goal might be to become a citizen.

Tutors do not need knowledge of a foreign language.

LVR tutor Ruby Williams says she expects her learner to come prepared, to complete homework assignments, to arrive at tutoring appointments on time, and to show respect.
